Abstract:
It is generally accepted that intrinsic charge mobility in molecular semiconductor is limited by dynamic disorder and that the charge mobility in polymeric systems is limited by static disorder. It is somewhat obvious that less disordered materials are better. However, we show in this lecture how it is possible to design excellent materials that are less sensitive to the same amount of disorder. This will be done after providing an overview of the charge transport mechanisms in ordered and disordered materials and the theoretical/computational methods used to elucidate them.
